"Eustice's Bag "

DIRECTOR STATEMENT:
Eustice's Bag is my first experience collaborating with professional filmmakers to tell a story. Although I have made a handful of shorts that experimented with either mood, story or image, I have never had the opportunity until now to combine all of these elements to tell the story of a unique and specific character. Eustice Brin is this character, with his desire to penetrate the high life of the art world. He is also a very lonely person having gone to great lengths to create a 'simulated art world' that warmly embraces hm. I have always been interested in ideas of self -perception and loneliness but also felt that this was a subtle and delicate category of our psychology. As director of the project, my main point of interest was the orchestration between real and imagined perception and how both are intrinsically connected to feelings of self-worth, acceptance and ultimately love. For a short film, I hope that the story touches on just enough of these areas for the spectator to connect to.
