"Tents"

Co-Producer, Editor- A Sudanese-American artist, a survivor of the Rwandan genocide, a ‘lost boy’ of Southern Sudan, and a ‘hidden child’ of the Holocaust devote a year of their lives to raising awareness about the genocide in Darfur, Sudan.


DIRECTOR BIO:
In 2000, Francesca Roveda ended her 25-year career as a professional potter to pursue a new passion- documentary filmmaking. Her life as an artist has been and continues to be dedicated to creating stories full of energy that bring together people and cultures. From script to screen, they are built on creativity and collaboration.

Francesca is currently producing and directing Tents, a series of three shorts documenting anti-genocide activist efforts, giving a voice to the survivors of mass-attrocities, and using their inspiring stories of bravery amidst persecution to illustrate the devastation that continues to pollute our humanity. The first short, Tents: The Patchwork Project (2008), focuses on a communal art project between students in the United States and children in refugee camps, as well as a group of young activists traveling to the dangerous border of Sudan and Chad, trying to spread the message to the Darfuri people that they are not forgotten.
