The spirit child, Orli, resides in a cemetery on the earth plane. It is a home she loves where she innocently plays and laughs with her friends, oblivious to other planes of existence. She is unaware of her spiritual form and what lies beyond her cemetery home. The living continue their lives unaware of the spirits. One day during play Orli stumbles into darkness. Who will lead Orli away from the dark and what amazing events does spirit life still have in store for her and her friends?
On her journey Orli learns that there is more to spirit life than she could ever have known. She discovers a place where there is no light, laughter, play, only nothingness. She meets awesome beings who reveal her real place in the world. When Orli refuses to stay with them on the spirit plane, the angels must come to a compromise. In compensation for forgetting Orli and her friends to the earthly world, they bring a bit of their world to the cemetery in the form of a magical transformation. Many surprises await Orli, her friends, and all spirit children.
Filmmaker's bio:
I have always enjoyed creating art whether drawing, painting, and now filmmaking. I chose to focus on traditional 2D animation as I believe that reveals a real spirit, whether that of the animator or the drawing itself. I look to many places for influence including fine art, our environment, and the spiritual. I have always been encouraged by a close family to explore creative abilities. I like to create art, films about what we may believe impossible, about magic and the spirit of the human race. The Spirit Child is my graduation film, my first film. I hope it will touch the hearts of those who see it. |
